We are a team oriented dressage training facility, where creating a collaborative environment that supports each horse and rider, is at the forefront of our business model.

Shelley lawder

Developing top FEI dressage horses, and riders, is a lifelong passion. Currently competing in Grand Prix Open division, Shelley has produced multiple horses to the open Grand Prix Championships, including Pan Am Selection Trials and Los Angeles Olympic Festival. Over the course of the last three decades, while competing at the International level, Shelley has trained and studied closely with Conrad Schumacher, Johann Hinnemann and Leslie Reid, all Olympic Level Coaches. Shelley is a certified high performance Equestrian Canada Dressage Coach and a US Dressage Federation Advanced Certified Coach and USDF Gold Medal Rider (since 1994).

We are grateful to be selected for the “Team Strategy Pathways Program” that guides top BC Talent to the National and International spheres of high performance in Dressage Sport. I am thrilled to be on this journey with such experienced professionals at the helm, and joined by my close training partners and students Erin Silo and Amy Wellburn both Grand Prix Riders and both currently competing very exciting new prospects at the Prix St. Georges/Intermediate 1 levels.

Erin Silo

A village raises a child, and a strong team builds community, support, and success! There is no one that I know that embodies this spirit more than Erin Silo, who has put her heart and soul into building our dressage business, our team, and reaching out to support everyone she can. She does all this while successfully competing her horse, Jett, to the overall BC high scoring champion at Prix St Georges and Intermediare 1 (2021) and managing a high level marketing job at Telus. In previous years, Erin won overall high score B.C. Grand Prix champion on Lotus in the Open Division (2019) and has a lifetime training and competing horses in dressage and eventing. Erin also loves to teach and has worked miracles, multiple times with complicated rehabilitation projects, working closely together with Dr. Billy Hodge. Erin was recently awarded the Sietske Memorial Applause Dressage Freestyle Grant, so be sure to look for some very exciting dressage dancing coming up next season!

aMY WELLBURN

Kind, compassionate, patient and extremely competent in whatever she does, Amy Wellburn is also a main pillar of support in our Shelley Lawder Dressage Team.

Amy has been successful at the FEI on multiple horses, including riding for Canada in the North American Young Rider Championships. She recently won the overall open BC Dressage high scoring third level champion on a very exciting, up and coming prospect owned by Andreé Stowe, and has multiple other exciting horses that she is riding and training. Amy is also an excellent teacher and manages all of this while carrying a full load at the cancer center as a registered nurse! Amy's talents and skills continue to amaze. She has done a beautiful job starting multiple young horses; one in particular we are excited about is "Connie" by Connaisseur out of Zaioura, the Grand Prix mare I ride, owned by Linda Houwelling.

aMY Rogers

Über Talent "wonder kid", our very own Amy Rogers, is only 16 years old, but she is a heavy hitter on our team. She is an extremely talented rider and seems to be able to ride anything well. Versatile, flexible, hard-working, Amy accepted a winter time position working for Natalie Hinnemann in California, joining me with her FEI Young Horse mount, “Diplomat," owned by Kathie German. Here, her talent has caught the attention of all, and she had the riding opportunities of a lifetime under Joh Hinnemann's rigorous vigilance. In 2021, Amy Rogers won overall BC Young Rider champion at the Prix St Georges/Int 1 Level on Lotus. Keep your eyes out for this rising dressage star!

Jess kreuzig

There is nothing more important than a shipshape barn, run in an efficient, consistent and organized manner with a steady hand on the tiller. In fact, none of us could do all the things we are able to do competitively and professionally, without the experienced, reliable constancy of Jess managing the stables. In addition, Jess is a farrier and cares for our young stocks’ farrier needs and has training in natural horse-manship. I value reliability and dependability as some of the most important qualities on our team and Jess is solid gold!

Brianna frewin

Briana has worked with handling and starting our young stock at Shelley Lawder Dressage since the beginning, and we are constantly delighted and amazed to see her work. Bri has a magical, joyful, pixie-like quality and the horsexs all pick up on her fun, gung-ho approach to riding, and to life. Bri has had multiple successes in the dressage shows with her prospects, runs a wonderful riding program for kids, is training her horse Dante in the Prix St Georges and continues to start young horses of different disciplines in the lower mainland. Look for our mare, Ciel, making her maiden voyages this coming year, a graduate of Bri's young horse program.
